The Problem and The Solution
In the wake of increased seismic activity, there’s a critical need for comprehensive and practical training on earthquake safety. Many individuals lack the necessary knowledge and confidence to respond effectively during an earthquake, resulting in preventable injuries and chaos.
To address this issue, I designed and developed an interactive, branching scenario-based eLearning experience. This project places learners in realistic earthquake situations, guiding them through immediate response actions and post-earthquake protocols. By navigating these branching scenarios, learners engage with real-life decision points and consequences, fostering a deeper and more practical understanding of earthquake safety essentials. This immersive approach ensures that users are not just passive recipients of information but active participants in their learning journey, ultimately leading to better preparedness and response in real-world scenarios.
My Process
Employing Miro, to create an Action Map, I designed branching scenarios where learners navigate through various decision points before, during, and after an earthquake. To enhance the visual storytelling aspect, I carefully selected colors and fonts that resonated with the seriousness of earthquake safety and preparedness. Ensuring accessibility, I conducted thorough tests on color contrasts and font legibility. Each slide presents users with thought-provoking prompts and two choices, offering tailored feedback to guide them towards optimal actions in real-world scenarios. Throughout the development process, maintaining consistency was paramount to ensuring a seamless learning experience.
